Boys Varsity Football · Gladiators Defeat Sharyland Rattlers 18-7

The Roma Gladiators have once again found themselves in the win column by defeating the Rattlers of Sharyland High School last Friday night.  The Gladiator defense would limit the high powered IMG_4005Rattler offense to less than 200 yards and only 7 points. In the first quarter of the game, the Gladiators would take an early 2 point lead by forcing a safety.  Special teams play, helped the Gladiators maintain a lead throughout most of the game.  Kicker Jorge Garcia would make not 1 but 3 total field goals scoring 9 of 18 total points for the team. Roma’s first touchdown of the night would come at a crucial time late in the 4th quarter on a 4th and goal situation.  With less then 3 minutes on the clock, quarterback Andy Marroquin would find his way into the end-zone on a short run, sealing the victory for the Gladiators.

The Gladiators begin their bye week with 2-2 district record and a 6-2 overall record.  On Friday October 30th, the Gladiators will travel to Richard Thompson stadium to take on the Sharyland Pioneer Diamondbacks.
